“Thorncreek Named Aurora’s Business of the Year”
ThornCreek Winery was honored at the Aurora Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Holiday Party as “2014 Business of the Year”. Aurora Chamber Executive Director Laura Holman said David Thorn, owner of ThornCreek Winery & Gardens, sets the highest standards in creating what can only be referred to as “the ThornCreek experience.” “The exquisitely landscaped gardens of ThornCreek are paired with award-winning wines and creative menu items to create a truly unique opportunity to relax and enjoy,” Holman said. Thorn purchased the property formerly known as Dankarona Winery in 2006 as a place to house his growing landscape design company DTR Associates. “Thankfully, his artistic mindset allowed him to see beyond the practical use of the property, and ThornCreek Winery & Gardens grew from that vision,” she said. The winery is open for food and drinks, with live entertainment scheduled weekly. It also hosts private events, “and each benefits from the attention to detail that has come to signify ThornCreek,” said Holman. Thorn is an involved member of the Aurora business community, and his commitment includes volunteering time and to the Chamber of Commerce, including serving on its board of directors and holding the office of president. “ThornCreek is a vital and vibrant member of the Aurora business community, and the Chamber is proud of honor it as business of the year,” Holman said. At the awards banquet, ThornCreek was presented with Business of the Year by the Aurora Chamber of Commerce; Key to the City presented by the Mayor of the city of Aurora; Certificate of Recognition and Achievement from The U.S. House of Representatives, presented by congressman David Joyce; and Proclamation from the Portage County Board of Commissioners.
